There have been many times
I have thought of you and wondered.....
How you were and if you were happy...
I want to share with you something, not to cause you pain or stress but hopefully to bring a smile to your face and to lighten your heart. Some of the following writings and poetry were written for someone else but for some odd reason included you or parts of you in each and every one. I have many fond memories of our time together. So, though our life together is over, and we are happily remarried, I can't help but say thank you for the memories and for the chance to know you. I have grown from the experiences we had. And today I continue to grow because I learned from our mistakes and grew from what we shared. Thank you.
The following
message, though not my words; those of Kahil Gibran,
reflects the way
I feel about love today.
When Love beckons
you, follow him
Though his ways
are hard and steep
And when he speaks
to you
Believe in him
Though his voice
may shatter your dreams
As the north wind
lays waste the garden...
For Love will strip
you bare
That in your nakedness
You may know the
secrets of your heart
And in that knowledge
Become a fragment
of Life's Heart.
But if in your fear
you would seek
Only Love's peace
and Love's pleasures
Then it is better
for you
That you cover your
nakedness
And pass into the
seasonless world
Where you shall
laugh
But not all your
laughter
And weep, but not
all your tears.
Love possesses not
nor would it be possessed
Love gives naught
but life itself
And takes naught
but from itself
For only through
Love can you give all of yourself
For Love is sufficient
unto Love.
And think not that
you can direct the course of Love
For Love, if it
finds you worthy, directs your course.
Love has no other
desire but to fullfill itself,
But if in your Love
you must have desires
Then let these be
your desires:
To melt and be like
a running brook
That sings its melody
to the night,
To know the pain
of too much tenderness
To be wounded by
your own understanding of Love
And to bleed willingly
and joyfully.
To wake at dawn
with a winged heart
And give thanks
for another day of loving.
Now here's a game
I've seen before
And played at once
or twice
Although I'm really
not quite sure
If playing it is
wise.
You take two slightly
damaged hearts
And place them side
by side
You give them names
and faces
And arms that open
wide.
You teach them how
to feel again
To love and care
about.
You tell them that
they must not lie
Of that there is
no doubt.
The stage is set.
You place your bet,
And draw the heart
on top.
Gently rest it in
your hand
Be careful not to
drop
These hearts are
full of love and so
You want to hold
them close
Advantage must be
given to the one
Who has the most
The rules are hard
to understand
But harder still
to keep
So listen closely
if you can
For penalities are
steep.
Your friends are
watching carefully
And if you tell
a lie
The one who holds
the biggest heart
Will hear the loudest
cry.
You have but once
to falter
There is no second
turn
Just one mistake
is all it takes
One lesson to be
learned.
There is no "new
beginning"
There is no other
stand
Although no one
is perfect
It's perfection
that we demand.
And when the game
is over
And the stage is
put away
There won't be any
joy
For the ones who
dared to play.
Only broken pieces
of a love
That once had lived
Because one heart
stumbled
And one would not
forgive.
Love will come and
love will go
But there are some
who never know
The peacefulness
that seems to flow
From love's sweet
harmony.
Suspicion hides
behind their eyes
They only want to
analyze
And always fail
to recognize
Their opportunity.
From past experiences
they know
That if they let
their
feelings show
Love can deal a
deadly blow
And break their
heart into.
And so they try
to be a friend
Deceive themselves
until the end
True love they say
is just pretend
True love is never
true.
Believe in love,
indeed we must
It's better that
we learn to trust
For love can be
to each of us
An endless fantasy.
And all the tears
that used to flow
Will feed the beauty
in our soul
It's love that helps
to make us whole
And love that sets
us free.
REACH OUT FOR LOVE
Be there life in
me to cry outloud
I would proclaim
to the world that love
Lives in each and
every heart
No matter how cold
or hard that heart seems.
It lies in the conscienceness
of every man
Seething like smoldering
fire
Ready to break forth
in
A dazzling display
of brilliant light
At the first hint
of fresh air.
All that is needed
Is a breath of honesty
And true compassion.
